Respecting the consequences of juvenile traffic violations

It is a common stereotype of young people that they act reckless in many situations, including regarding legal accusations. This may be due to ignorance of the law or a lack of respect for consequence, but whatever the reason, all youngsters still know that they are not above the law. As a juvenile, you may not want to concern yourself with legal issues, and you may even hope that if you ignore the issue it will go away. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

The reality is that while juvenile crimes tend to come with lesser legal penalties, there are still legal penalties to worry about. Perhaps the most common legal trouble that youngsters find themselves in involves traffic violations. You are driving home from school or on your way to a friend's house, and in your excitement, you don't realize that you are going 10 miles over the speed limit until you hear the sirens and see the flashing lights.

You may not think much of the speeding ticket, even after realizing how much it costs. What you may not realize is that the danger is not in the ticket itself, but in the potential consequences of another infraction. Did you know that if you are caught in violation of traffic laws twice in six months, you could have your license suspended?

Nearly everyone understands the dangers of a DUI, but other, more minor traffic violations often slip under people's radars. If you or your juvenile child has been involved in a traffic violation, you may be surprised at how discussing the violation with an attorney can help you avoid future disaster. Seemingly minor traffic violations can have unexpectedly dire consequences as juveniles grow older if they are not properly and thoroughly addressed.
