Search of New Jersey home leads to numerous drug charges

Initial releases of information that pertain to arrests can be sparse on the details that resulted in the arrest taking place. As a result, New Jersey residents should not be quick to judge the culpability of the individual charged, as the evidence has only begun to be disclosed. In serious cases that bring with them drug charges, patience may be an especially important virtue in determining who may be responsible for the list of crimes New Jersey police claim an individual committed.

Police released information recently regarding the arrest of a 55-year-old man. It is alleged that officers searched the home of the man and uncovered a large amount of drugs and firearms. It is unclear whether police executed a search warrant or whether the man allowed them to enter his home voluntarily.

As a result of the search, the man faces 43 drug and weapons charges. He was taken into custody and lodged at a local correctional facility. His bail was set at $750,000 and he remains incarcerated at this time.

In evaluating a New Jersey criminal case, gathering the basic who, what, where and why, is never sufficient. To truly understand the case, every fact needs to be analyzed. This analysis is especially important when it comes to drug charges that stem from the search of a home. If the search relied on stale or unreliable information, this could serve as a basis to request that the case be dismissed as a result of Constitutional violations of a person's right to be free from unreasonable searches of their home.
