New Jersey man charged with intent to distribute drugs

After a drug surveillance, a 32-year-old man was recently arrested for drug charges. The video allegedly captured the man doing a drug deal. He was charged with intent to distribute drugs and he is being detained at a New Jersey county jail on a $25,000 bond.

The video surveillance came about after fellow neighbors made accusations of drug dealing taking place in the neighborhood. Law enforcement launched an operation and placed the suspect under surveillance. A short time later, police observed the man conducting a drug deal and it was caught on video. Police arrested two people, ages 29 and 30, after they were found to be in possession of Oxycontin.

Police were able to follow the man to other locations, including retail stores and watched him complete a drug deal. Later that night, the man was almost home when he was stopped by police. He was reportedly in possession of a large amount of heroin and placed under arrest. He was charged with drug possession and a count of intent to distribute.

Intent to distribute drugs is a hefty charge for anyone to face. Nevertheless, an accusation does not constitute guilt in any criminal case, and the man has the right to seek full protection of his legal rights. He is presumed innocent until -- and only if -- proved guilty in a New Jersey courtroom. Understandably, authorities will seek to prosecute under the fullest extent of the law for this type of charge, though they will need to meet an exacting standard of proof before a conviction is accomplished.
