New Jersey man charged with drunk driving after low speed chase

In the movies, high speed chase scenes involve dramatic, over the top action and frequent destructive accidents. However, one real life police pursuit involved low speeds and tireless rims and ended in a man being charged with drunk driving. The New Jersey resident was accused of driving while impaired after an alleged five mile chase.

The arrest and charges came after a supposed witness made a report about a car being driven on a roadway without tires on the wheels. Police reportedly responded to the call and allegedly saw the man driving without a tire on the driver's side. The officers employed their vehicle's lights and sirens but the man allegedly did not stop and continued on the highway.

Police ordered a section of the highway to be closed off while they pursued the driver at what was reported to be well below the posted speed limits. After a five mile low speed chase, officers did get the man to stop his car. The man was arrested and charged with being impaired and was later allowed to go free from police custody. His car was towed from the scene by the police.

The man that has been charged with drunk driving has not been jailed and he is awaiting further legal proceedings in this case. Not everyone that is charged with alleged drunk driving is found to be guilty and this man could be found innocent as his case progresses. New Jersey has many provisions in its laws that could allow this man to find the best possible resolution for his situation.
