New Jersey drunk driver may have sought divine intervention

A New Jersey woman is facing serious charges after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, which prosecutors say lead to a series of collisions caused by the woman, which ended in the death of a pedestrian the woman struck in a parking lot, as well as a hefty amount of damage.

Reportedly, the Parsippany, New Jersey, woman was shown to have a 0.133 percent blood-alcohol concentration, but a separate blood test determined her blood-alcohol concentration to be 0.11 percent shortly after the accident. It is reported that lab tests also indicated that cocaine was in this woman's system.

In an unsettling series of events, it appears that this troubled woman first appeared at her church before the deadly accident. She may have gone to seek guidance or solace, the reasons remain unknown. Witnesses report she appeared "wobbly" upon appearance at the church in East Hanover, New Jersey.

After that is when the woman got behind the wheel and caused the series of crashes that lead to the death of the pedestrian. This troubled woman has pleaded not guilty to her charges of aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide. Further, her attorney is attempting to lower her bail so that she can enter an inpatient drug program and begin to address some of her issues.

Her attorney is reportedly working hard right now to call into question the incongruous BAC readings. Additionally, he is also working to suppress as evidence the defendant's activities leading up to her striking the pedestrian, a 2009 drunk driving conviction and the report that found cocaine to be in her system.

The outcome of this all-around tragic case remains to be determined. Hopefully this woman is able to seek the treatment that she needs to get her life back on track.
