Passenger aboard flight to New Jersey accused of sexual abuse

When one man with no history of sexual assault landed in Newark after a cross-country flight, he landed in a mess of sex crime charges. The female passenger sitting next to him reports that she fell asleep with headphones on and an article of clothing on her lap, but awoke to the gentleman sitting next to her fondling her breasts with one hand while his other hand was down her pants. Consequently, the gentleman is now facing charges of sexual abuse in New Jersey.

The man denies the accusations of sexual assault. He is forthright about touching the woman, but maintains that the actions were consensual. According to his defense, "If I was on a plane and someone reached into my trousers, I would wake up and complain vociferously." Therefore, the defense aims to prove that the accusations are baseless on the grounds that it would be very difficult to sexually assault someone on a confined plane full of witnesses.

Because the defendant is a Turkish-born United States citizen, the prosecution requested that the gentleman be held on bail in case he attempts to flee New Jersey. However, the defense states that the gentleman has no desire to return to Turkey. The gentleman has lived in the United States for over 30 years, further he has a clean criminal record and no history of sexual abuse.

Sex crime charges carry severe consequences in the court of public opinion as well as the legal system. It is imperative that if an individual is accused of committing a sex crime, that individual seek an aggressive defense that will defend their side of the story to avoid consequences and possible jail time.
