Alleged kidnapping victims returned to their fathers

Two children were recently reunited with their biological fathers after 18 months of separation. Authorities allege the children were taken out of the country illegally by their mother, and she is accused of violating court orders. The fathers of the children had joint custody with their mother.

The mother of the children became the focus of an international manhunt, and several law enforcement agencies were involved, including the FBI. The woman is now facing federal charges in the United States. She was found in France with the children. She allegedly changed their appearances and names in an effort to conceal their identities.

The mother suggested that she ran away with the children because she was worried that their fathers would try to take custody from her. She also suggested that one of the men may have been abusive to his child, but the man denied the allegations. Courts also noted that there was no evidence to support the woman's accusation, though the other man had previously faced allegations of battery. She now faces two felony charges for her actions, and, if she is extradited to the United States and convicted, she may face six years in prison

In this case, there are obvious disagreements concerning the custody of the children between the parties involved. However, in order to modify the terms of a custody arrangement, the parties may have benefited from consultation from a family law attorney. That attorney might have been able to review the circumstances of the case and help the parties reach a resolution that is fair and equitable.
