Kid Cudi ends child custody battle

Child custody battles can be lengthy when parents can't agree on the terms of a custody arrangement. The strain of a child custody case sometimes pushes parents to agree to arrangements that perhaps weren't what they originally planned, and sometimes it comes down to a decision from the court.

New Jersey readers may be interested in the recent development in rapper Kid Cudi's child custody case. The battle, which has lasted more than a year, has been replete with allegations of substance abuse and poor parenting. Cudi, however, has been seeking full custody.

Specifically, the child's mother has accused the rapper of providing inadequate support, using drugs and abusing alcohol. Cudi reportedly bought a house in Chicago so he could spend more time with his daughter, though the girl's mother accused him in court papers of being an absentee father. Cudi has said that he no longer uses marijuana, even releasing a music video for his song "Marijuana" that he called a tribute to a former pastime.

Cudi and his ex have agreed that she will retain full custody of the child with visitation allowed for the rapper.

Child custody cases can be complicated, especially when there are accusations of drug use. In such cases, it's important that parents be fully aware of their legal rights and options. Experienced family law attorneys can help guide a parent through the custody process to help ensure that a fair outcome is reached.
